Acadia is fracturing. As political factions tear through the city and chaos spreads, a far greater threat advances beyond the Wall—one that will not stop. Cojax and Jessica find themselves at the centre of a conflict where the stakes are no longer just survival, but the fate of everything humanity has left.

Acadia (Book 1)

Acadia book cover by Sterling Nixon

Acadia is the first book in Sterling Nixon's science fiction series Children of Acadia. The novel presents a dystopian vision of humanity's future, set in a militarized city where survival depends on merit scores.
While an earlier version of Acadia was published in 2016, Nixon has extensively revised the work for this 2026 edition.

Two hundred years after creatures called "Roaches" swept across Earth, humanity's remnants have retreated behind the walls of Acadia—the last human city. Every citizen's worth is determined by a ruthless merit system where earning points means safety, while falling short results in being "Rifted" into the depths beyond salvation.

The story follows two main characters: Jessica, who faces the threat of the Mahghetto—an unforgiving trial where failure means death—and Cojax, a young soldier desperate to prove himself as a Validated defender of the city. When Jessica appears from outside the city walls, from lands supposedly devoid of life, their paths converge around a conspiracy that threatens Acadia's rigid order.

About Sterling Nixon

Sterling Nixon is known for his work in suspense and fantasy genres. His writing often blends elements of historical and speculative fiction. The concept for Acadia was inspired by his years in law enforcement, where he observed how resources were allocated based on seniority rather than merit. This led him to envision a perfect meritocracy, which gradually evolved into the complex world of Acadia (Sterling Nixon).

Nixon has been writing for over twenty years and has built a strong connection with his readers through THE ENCLAVE, a writer/reader community where like-minded individuals discuss upcoming books, ideas, and writing conferences (Sterling Nixon). Nixon has also authored other works including the Nickle Brickle'Bee series.
